Elias Black’s aptly-titled third album, Anxiety—out on Black Friday, November 24 2023—is a 9-song collection from a man with his back against a wall. Written during pandemic isolation, it is the sound of sanity buckling under the weight of mass hysteria, job stress, and social phobias. But instead of breaking, Elias picked up a detuned guitar and wrote the most pissed-off and eclectic entry in Elias Black’s three album oeuvre. Anxiety will be preceded by the darkly majestic single, “Fallen Kings, Fallen Queens,” out October 17, 2023.

Anxiety finds Elias Black exploring a wide palette of sounds. The songs are laced with noir-meets-free-jazz saxophone, courtesy of Joe Berry (M83, Save Ferris, MC5’s Wayne Kramer). The guitars are tuned the lowest they’ve ever been on an Elias Black record and he turns in some of his most hauntingly emotive vocal performances.

Despite being written in suffocating solitude and recorded remotely, Anxiety is Elias Black’s most collaborative album. Longtime special guest guitarist Ryan Chamberlain (Lions of Tsavo, Arrowounds) is now contributing songs, guitars, bass, and vocals to Elias Black. In addition, Anxiety features dexterous and thunderous drumming from Failure drummer Kellii Scott, and ethereal textures from keyboardist Rob Robinson.

Anxiety is produced and mixed by Elias who remains the project’s primary songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist.
